#7: Travel to 5 states I haven't been to before - North Carolina

Oh my goodness. I haven't added to this blog in 3 months! Bad Chloe, Bad Chloe! School has been ultra busy, and with softball starting up again, I haven't had much free time to go out and spread my 99 in 999 joy with the world. I would like to be more like the original 99 in 999-er and get into the swing of things, and I will try my very hardest to make the most of my last few months of college, ever!

Anyways, I followed SVU Lacrosse all the way out to North Carolina for a game against Elon University on Saturday night. I rarely get to go to Tommy's away games because of my softball schedule, so I jumped on this opportunity. I had also never been to North Carolina, so it was a great chance to cross achievements off my list!

Boberry biscuits, baby!
North Carolina was, in a sense, a lot of the same in "feeling" as some parts of Virginia. Lots of trees, historic buildings, boondocks along the highways, Bojangles. (If you don't know Bojangles, hunt down your nearest one and go!) Except, there were some notable differences - civilization, cities close to one another, and townie accents are more "southern belle"-ish than Tow Mater-ish. Which was a nice change that made me chuckle a little bit. I guess I find it funny since my California roots have given me a "toking surfer" accent, so the whole "Ah lordie, ma baaaaaaybies are in town!" bit made me laugh - and I don't think the girl I LOL'd at got it. So I quickly bit my tongue. There are North Carolinans who don't have that, and I might have just met "the one person" in the bunch, but man it was funny! What was funnier was that all the Elon lacrosse team guys ate it up! I was looking at them like, are you guys serious? This is attractive to you? I guess a lot of things change below the Mason-Dixon line.

Anyways. At the game itself, I helped SVU's statistician dude keep score on the really cool new score book computer program. Well, more accurately, he typed in all the crazy confusing short hand while I watched the game and reported shots, turnovers, penalties, things like that. And man it was an effort! I thought I got the game pretty well at a novice level, but there's so much that happens in a game that, in order to keep correct stats, you need eagle eyes and a quick processing brain. And my eagle eye and quick-processing brain functions can't always work at the same time. It was a really fun experience, though! And hey, I got pizza from the really nice "lordie lordie" girl, so it was totally worth it!
